SPECIAL EVENT: CRN x EDGE NeuroArt Nexus ~ The Creative Brain: From Myths to Modern Science
Monday, August 25th, 2025 | Online Talk & Community Networking
19:00-20:00 GMT (London, UK) • 2:00-3:00 pm EST (North America, Eastern)
This month, instead of our typical reading club gathering, Creativity Research Network is guest-speaking for EDGE as a part of their NeuroArt Nexus series.
In our presentation, we’ll discuss whether creative people born or made, if creativity resides in the “right brain” and dig into why cultural associations between creativity and mental illness endure. Together we’ll explore what creativity really signifies, how science is challenging long-standing myths, and why these ideas matter across cultures and practices.
Four researchers—Kaile Smith (New York, U.S.A.), Matteo Antona (United Kingdom), Stephanie Miller (Austria), and Sarah O'Meara (Ireland)— will share new perspectives on how creativity can be studied, measured, and cultivated, as well as the social and environmental conditions that shape it.
The program will conclude with a community networking session, offering participants the chance to connect directly with EDGE’s international network of artists and scientists, alongside members of the Creativity Research Network.
Following the talk, we invite all attendees to join a short community networking session.
