  • The burgeoning interest in enhancing creativity within K-12 education underscores the crucial role of creativity in fostering innovative economies. Despite its significance, creative education remains underprioritized and under-explored, often due to misunderstandings about its nature and the complexities involved in its assessment. The present review delved into the challenges of assessing creative potential in students, highlighting the complexity in creative expression and the difficulties in capturing this through creativity assessments focusing on single aspects. It also emphasized the detrimental impact of entrenched misconceptions among teachers about creativity, which can hinder the effective identification and support of creative potential in students. Addressing these challenges is essential for equitable educational practices and for realizing the creative potential of all students, particularly those marginalized. The findings advocate for a systemic shift toward more inclusive assessment methods and call for a reevaluation of educational strategies to integrate and value creativity alongside traditional academic goals.
